Thanks. That's just at the border of Porsgrunn and Bamble.

You should.. when did they move over there?

My grandmother moved to Germany in 1938 but returned to Norway with one son in 1949. Unfortunately I never had the chance to meet her. I have only recently reunited with my family in Porsgrunn. After my grandmother left Germany she never talked about her time there and changed her sons name to her second husbands name. They were never able to find us and unfortunately my uncle passed away in 1991 never knowing what happened to his brothers and sisters. But those were the times. Sorry about the depressing story.

Well, lots of stories like that from that era. So you don't have any idea what her name was?

I know her name and was able to find a person in Porsgrunn who does family heritage work. She was able to track my Norwegian side back to 1733 so far. She has been great!

Well that's nice then;) it must be exciting to learn something about your family history when it's been totally lost like that

I have been talking with my cousin in Porsgrunn and making plans on meeting.

It was rather exciting to learn of my family history in Norway and how for it goes back. It's a beautiful place that I hope to visit soon.
